Trial for suspended East Cleveland Mayor Brandon King to begin Monday after dispute with judge causes delay

CLEVELAND — After a delay of of more than two weeks, the corruption trial for suspended East Cleveland Mayor Brandon King and former Councilman Ernest Smith is set to begin on Monday with jury selection.

King, who served as mayor from 2016 until his suspension in January, faces 12 charges, including theft in office, unlawful interest in a public contract and soliciting improper compensation.
