EUCLID, Ohio (WJW) – The Fox 8 I-Team obtained police video that shows how a drone helped Euclid officers nab a kidnapping suspect on June 15.
“We were told the suspect had a gun, so it was safer to send the drone in first,” said Euclid Police Chief Scott Meyer. “The drone was able to wake the suspect up and escort him to the officers. This is the first time that I’ve seen someone turn themselves in or give up to a drone.”

Euclid police said they went to the house on East 264 looking for the suspect after a woman told officers he threatened her at gunpoint, assaulted her, and kept her from leaving the home. She was eventually able to escape and call 911. Police said she is expected to be okay.
“At one point, the victim claims he pointed a gun at her head and threatened to kill her,” the chief said. “She also said he choked her at one point.”The chief said that since officers did not know if the suspect had a weapon, they felt it was best to send in the drone first.The defendant is facing a felony count of kidnapping and his bond was set at $40,000.
