Woman Drops Baby Out Window To Safety After Explosion And Fire At Cleveland Apartment Building

Five people were hospitalized after an explosion and fire at an Ohio apartment building on Monday that caused an estimated $3.5 million in damages, officials said.

The Cleveland Fire Department said 22 companies totaling more than 60 firefighters responded to a report of an explosion and fire at a 44-unit apartment building on the 7000 block of Garden Valley Avenue at around 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Just before the first engine arrived on scene, a woman dropped her baby out of a third-floor window to onlookers below, the fire department said. She was then rescued by Engine 41, which was the first ladder to arrive. The fire department said another resident had “tied bedsheets together to escape the blaze.”…
