The legislation, signed June 30 by Gov. Mike DeWine, allows Ohio-licensed veterinarians to establish a veterinarian-client-patient relationship (VCPR) through real-time virtual visits rather than requiring an in-person exam. The law takes effect at the end of September.
The Cleveland Animal Protective League (APL) played a leading role in advancing the measure, working in partnership with the national advocacy group Animal Policy Group (APG) and a broad coalition of animal welfare organizations.
