FirstEnergy conducts controlled power outage in Lakewood to prevent larger outage

LAKEWOOD, Ohio (WOIO) – FirstEnergy conducted a power outage in Lakewood Thursday to protect the equipment at a substation and to prevent an unplanned and wider outage, according to a FirstEnergy spokesperson.

FirstEnergy said they were performing necessary repairs on a transformer and underground line at a substation, and as the heat and humidity rose throughout the day, the load on the other equipment at the substation was increasing, so they proactively did the controlled outage.
