Teen found dead in local apartment hallway

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) — A homicide investigation is unfolding in Mayfield Heights after a 19-year-old was found dead in the hallway of an apartment building.

According to police, at about 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, officers were called to the Gates Mills Place apartments on Mayfield Road after witnesses reported hearing an argument followed by gunfire shortly before the victim was found.

Police said three males are now in custody; however, their identities have not yet been released pending the formal filing of charges.

“This does not appear to be a random incident,” said Chief Anthony Mele. “The investigation is ongoing.”
