Cincy imam’s arrest by ICE sparks national outcry, must wait for Cleveland court’s ruling on bond

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Three weeks ago, Ayman Soliman was working as a chaplain at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, comforting families and children.

On Tuesday, he sat in a jail and stared into a screen that broadcast his image into Immigration Court in Cleveland, where he had hoped a judge would allow him to post bond on civil immigration charges.

Soliman’s arrest by immigration agents has been condemned by Democratic politicians in Ohio, Cincinnati government officials, religious leaders and community members. Despite that, his attempt at bond was put on hold…
