WESTLAKE, Ohio (WJW) — A 33-year-old Maple Heights man was arrested earlier this month after Westlake police found him passed out behind the wheel of a running car — with a loaded handgun tucked in his waistband.
According to Capt. Gerald Vogel of the Westlake Police Department, the incident occurred at about 4 a.m. on July 11. An officer on patrol noticed a vehicle stopped in the middle of Clague Road near Belmont Avenue with its brake lights on but not moving.

When the officer approached the vehicle, he discovered the man unconscious in the driver’s seat. Additional officers arrived and used their vehicles to block the car in, preventing the possibility of a pursuit if the driver woke up and tried to flee.
