Cleveland ghost employee was paid over 400 times before getting caught, records show

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A man was paid more than 400 times by the city of Cleveland — and collected $672,050 over 14 years — before anyone realized he never actually worked there, newly released invoices show.

New records reveal that a man whose family member worked for TV20, the city’s public-access channel, was paid dozens of times each year in installments that ranged from $450 to $3,000 or more. Both the former director of TV20, an assistant director and an office manager, who’s identified as the man’s aunt in police reports, signed the invoices…
