Fugitive wanted for rape of minor arrested in Massachusetts

BOSTON (WWLP) – The U.S. Marshals Service arrested a man in Lawrence on a fugitive of justice warrant for the alleged rape of a minor in Ohio.

Massachusetts Acting United States Marshal Kevin Neal announced the arrest on Thursday of 37-year-old Webster Portalatin-Castro, who was wanted for rape of a person under the age of 18. The warrant was issued in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 3rd.

ICE detention facility ‘bursting at the seams’

The investigation into the whereabouts of Castro led to Massachusetts, where he was tracked down in Lawrence. Members of the District of Massachusetts Fugitive Task Force were assisted by the MA State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS), Lawrence PD, Lowell PD, and the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “The U.S. Marshals Service will track down violent sexual predators such as this, whether they are in the city of Cleveland or have fled across the country. There is nowhere for them to hide when the Marshals are looking for them.”…
