Teens released to parents after allegedly fleeing from stolen car

CLEVELAND (WJW) — Several local police departments were searching for suspects early Thursday morning, after an overnight chase ended in a crash and multiple suspects fled on foot.

According to officials, the Cuyahoga Sheriff’s Department was chasing a stolen car. The 5-minute chase ended just before 2:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of East 40th Street, when a sheriff’s cruiser used a pit maneuver to spin out the suspect’s vehicle.

The sheriff’s cruiser ended up hitting a building. The deputy and the K9 inside the wrecked vehicle are said to be okay. However, several suspects fled on foot.

The Cleveland Fire Department helped police search a roof and a warehouse.

Other nearby police departments were called to assist in the search, which included the use of a drone and a K9.
