CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is celebrating 70 of some very old residents.
Tom and Terry, the zoo’s Aldabra giant tortoises, have officially resided at the zoo since August 1955. This makes them the longest residents of the zoo. While the size of the species can vary, on average males measure 47 inches and 110 pounds, the largest tortoise on record was 59 inches and 800 pounds.
