Newark man arrested after allegedly threatening Elyria police

ELYRIA — A Newark man remains in the Lorain County Jail on a $1.4 million bond stemming from disorderly conduct and felony intimidation charges.

Amir Nassirharand, 64, reportedly made reference to a Lorain police officer who was killed in the line of duty last month when speaking to Elyria officers who responded to a complaint he was involved in at the Texas Roadhouse on Aug. 7.

According to a police report, Nassirharand allegedly yelled obscenities at the restaurant and then left. Officers found him sitting on a bench outside Target. In speaking to him, Nassirharand reportedly told the officers they would “go down like Wagner,” in reference to Lorain police Officer Phillip Wagner, 35, who was shot and gravely injured in an ambush in Lorain on July 23.
