CLEVELAND — Rescuers combed Lake Erie in two separate Northeast Ohio cities Sunday, searching for people reported missing in the water amid a warning from the National Weather Service of a high risk of rip currents.
In Bay Village, crews were called to Huntington Beach just after 6 p.m. for a report of someone missing in the water. U.S. Coast Guard members and other rescue crews unsuccessfully searched for hours, Bay Village police told 3News. The search may resume in the morning, pending lake conditions.
About an hour later, crews were called to Edgewater Park after receiving a call that a person had fallen off of the pier and was missing in the water, according to Cleveland Division of Fire Lieutenant Mike Norman.
