‘Horrifying’: Family speaks out as man convicted in Mentor teen’s 1985 killing is released from prison

CONNEAUT, Ohio — It’s been 40 years since Michelle Hayes’ horrific killing. However, time passing hasn’t healed the pain of her absence.

“It’s a nightmare that you never wake up from, ever,” said Dawn Hayes, Michelle’s sister. “She is terribly missed, you know, even to this day.”
