Greater Cleveland RTA to reopen Red Line W. 117th-Madison Station after yearlong rehabilitation work

CLEVELAND — Just in time for the Labor Day holiday weekend, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) has announced that the Red Line W.117–Madison Station will reopen Friday after more than a year of rehabilitation work.

The station has been closed since July 17, 2025, undergoing needed work on the platform and track bridges that were constructed in 1953.

“We appreciate the patience and flexibility that our riders have shown during this closure, and we now welcome them back to a revitalized Red Line station, where a huge amount of refurbishment was accomplished,” said GCRTA Deputy General Manager Engineering & Project Management, Michael Schipper. “Now Red Line riders who utilize this station will be able to take the train to the upcoming Cleveland Guardians games and Cleveland National Air Show this holiday weekend.”…
