Wrongfully Convicted Share Their Stories in “The Lynched Among Us”

Awareness of the wrongfully convicted has been growing in recent years, opening people’s eyes to those who have served decades-long prison sentences prior to being exonerated of crimes they clearly did not commit. And by far the majority of these men (they are mostly but not entirely men) punished by a broken justice system are Black.

Activist group Voices of Injustice is an Ohio-based ensemble of exonerees who are using art and theater to make people aware of how broken and unjust that justice system really is. This weekend, for one night only, it is presenting an evening called The Lynched Among Us, taking place at Playhouse Square’s Mimi Ohio Theatre. There six men who served prison sentences for crimes they didn’t commit will share their stories to raise awareness of the flaws in the justice system, especially in Cuyahoga County…
