UNIONTOWN, Ohio (WJW) – Lake Local Schools is facing controversy after a parent objected to coaches leading prayer at a cross-country meet.
The district has since clarified that coaches are not allowed to lead students in prayer after pressure from the Freedom From Religion Foundation, a national organization that aims to separate church and state.

“One of our families had a concern that some of our coaches were leading an organizing prayer,” Lake Local Schools Superintendent Brett Yeagley said. “So, when we got that complaint, we took a look at it, we sent it off to district legal because we know how important faith is to many members of our community.”
