CLEVELAND (WJW) — An investigation is ongoing following a fire that broke out just after midnight Sunday that led to the deaths of two people, the Cleveland Division of Fire said in a statement.

Fire crews were called to a residence on East 52nd Street near Fleet Avenue for reports a fire had broken out. Upon arrival, Cleveland Division of Fire said they saw heavy fire coming from the first floor and porch area of the home.
A man and a woman were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center with what firefighters described as critical injuries, but they both later passed away.

No one else was reported injured in the blaze.
The cause of the fire has not yet been released, but “first arriving companies reported hearing no smoke alarms.”
Damages to the property are estimated to be about $150,000, firefighters said…
