Max Miller calls for National Guard troops in Cleveland instead of gun reform

I was disappointed to read U.S. Rep. Max Miller’s Sept. 15 op-ed in The Washington Times newspaper calling for deployment of National Guard troops in Cleveland (“U.S. Rep. Miller wants the National Guard in Cleveland,” Sept. 18). Miller is jumping on the MAGA bandwagon to instill fear and distrust rather than hope and confidence in the hearts of his constituents. I have never felt unsafe when attending events downtown. Seeing gun-clad troops combing the streets of Cleveland will make me feel like I’m living in a police state.

No, thank you! We need fewer guns on our streets, not more. There are far too many guns in America, yet Congress refuses to pursue commonsense gun legislation and appropriations for increased mental health services…
