CLEVELAND, Ohio — Unemployment rates across the region dropped sharply in August, with Lake and Geauga counties posting significant month-to-month declines, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Lake County’s unemployment rate fell to 3.5% in August, down from 4.7% in July and slightly above the 3.4% rate recorded in August 2024. The county’s labor force was at about 129,000 people, with roughly 4,500 residents unemployed.
