‘Every call matters’: Police called in after local squirrel gets tied up in knots

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) — Richmond Heights police came to the rescue of a local rodent that had gotten itself into a sticky situation Thursday evening.

“Not every call we answer is serious — but every call matters,” the department wrote on its Facebook page along with a video showing a squirrel that was knotted up in some sort of sports netting in what appeared to be a resident’s backyard.

The video shows Richmond Heights Officer Pawlak calmly and coolly snipping parts of the net to get the furry animal free.

“Once loose, he didn’t stick around for an interview — he bolted straight back to the trees, tail high and freedom restored,” the police department wrote in the caption.
