Applause for innovative gun-monitoring program helping teens with gun charges stay out of jail

Statistically, too many Black teenagers are incarcerated, and quite often due to guns. I am heartened to learn of Cuyahoga County Juvenile judges finding a way to improve the judicial process (“Gun monitoring program shows early success,“ Oct. 12). Taking baby steps is fine; allowing for program-wide review as well as the teen’s individual responsibility is good.

I also fully endorse Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley’s message that the safety of our community must be considered and maintained. What would an unsafe community…..
