Maximum sentence for murder of 3-year-old in local Giant Eagle parking lot: Judge

CLEVELAND (WJW) – A judge handed down a maximum sentence Monday morning to Bionca Ellis, the woman accused of killing a 3-year-old boy in an unprovoked attack in the parking lot of a local Giant Eagle last summer.

Ellis was convicted earlier this month on several charges, including aggravated murder.

On Monday, the judge sentenced the 34-year-old accused killer to life without parole.

Ellis did not testify in her own defense during the trial. Her attorneys filed a not guilty by reason of insanity on her behalf. He attorneys have maintained that Ellis has suffered from mental health issues for years and was not sane at the time of the murder.

The child’s mother, Margot Wood, testified during the murder trial. She cried on the stand as she described Ellis with a knife stabbing her son,  Julian, for no reason.  The boy’s mother was also stabbed in the attack. Margot Wood said she did not know Ellis…
