Cleveland Hopkins airport creates food pantry for unpaid federal workers

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland Hopkins International Airport has created a free pantry of food items to assist TSA officers and other employees who are affected by the federal government shutdown.

Air traffic controllers, Transportation Security Administration workers, U.S. Customs and Border Protection employees and other federal staff at Cleveland Hopkins and elsewhere have been working without pay for nearly four weeks.

Cleveland Hopkins spokesman Michele Dynia said the airport started soliciting donations from airport employees and airport partners last week. Among the items they’ve collected: nonperishable food, baby formula and diapers, household cleaning items and more…
