Wickliffe looks to aid residents during ongoing government shutdown

Wickliffe is looking to partner with Lifeline to host a food drive to aid residents concerned about their SNAP food benefits in light of the ongoing government shutdown.

Mayor Joe Sakacs said the city is looking to start something at the Wickliffe Community/Senior Center, located at 900 Worden Road, from 5 to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

“Once we get all the fine details worked out and figure out a date, I will post it,” Sakacs said. “There are not a lot of locations in western Lake County that are available at nighttime, so that was the thought process behind this. A lot of people sent me messages on what we can do as a city because of this government shutdown and people not being able to receive their food benefits.”…
