CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cuyahoga County Sheriff Harold Pretel is objecting to a county order transferring his fiscal team under the county’s central fiscal office – a move the administration says will improve oversight and consistency, but that Pretel argues will hinder his department’s operations.
In an email sent Monday to Executive Chris Ronayne’s Chief of Staff, Erik Janas, Pretel urged the administration to “pump the brakes on this knee jerk reaction move.”
“The more discussion there is on this the more it becomes obvious it’s not a good move,” Pretel wrote while attending the Buckeye State Sheriffs Association conference. “I don’t support this move as it limits the ability of the sheriff’s department to conduct some of our functions.”…
