CLEVELAND, Ohio – It’s been almost two weeks since Cleveland voters picked ward representatives to sit on Cleveland City Council. All but one ward knows exactly who will be at the big kids table come the first council meeting of 2026 in January. The ward left hanging is where I live.
I walked to my new precinct in what will be Ward 12 in the new year. It felt futile to hope for change. How could a political newbie beat a homegrown incumbent? Whether or not my choice won or not – I was determined to at least add to their numbers. Only one candidate reflected what I wanted for my neighborhood, my ward – Tanmay Shah.
One can dream, right?…
