Five sentenced in drug ring after Cleveland woman’s fatal fentanyl overdose

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Five people connected to a Northeast Ohio drug trafficking operation have been sentenced to prison after a Cleveland woman died from a fentanyl overdose.

Demario Jones, 28, of Cleveland — who prosecutors say is the leader of the ring — still awaits trial on numerous charges that include involuntary manslaughter, conspiracy and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.

Gregory Johnson, identified by prosecutors as one of Jones’ subordinates, was sentenced Monday by Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge David Matia to 23 years in prison…
