Brook Park man loses $4,500 in gift card scam

BROOK PARK, Ohio – A Michael Drive resident fell prey to a gift card scam, which was reported to police Nov. 21.

The resident was watching videos on his cell phone Nov. 19 when his phone screen froze. A message on the screen instructed the man to call Apple support and provided him a phone number.

The resident called the number and was told that his bank accounts had been hacked. A fraudster told him that Apple needed to empty his bank accounts to prevent additional thefts…
