U.S. Marshals Arrest Two Suspects in Connection with Cleveland’s Angie’s Soul Café Homicide

Two men, Dominick Newby, 20, and Jayshawn Collins, 19, wanted for the murder of 34-year-old Patrick Carner, were arrested early this morning by the U.S. Marshals led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF), as reported by U.S. Marshals Service. Carner was shot amidst the day-to-day bustle outside Angie’s Soul Café on Carnegie Ave, a crime for which Newby and Collins became suspects late in the summer.

The NOVFTF initiated a hunt for the suspects’ whereabouts recently leading to their apprehension without incident in the 1100 block of East 58th St., “This shooting left one person dead and could have been significantly worse as the shooting took place outside of a busy restaurant in the middle of the day,” U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott remarked, affirming the severity of the crime and the risk posed to the public. The safety sentiment echoed through the community as the arrests were announced, with both suspects now removed from Cleveland’s streets.

The violent incident has cast a shadow on the city since June 17, when 34-year-old Patrick Carner suffered gunshot wounds and was also robbed. Police responded to the tragic call by noon on that day at Angie’s Soul Café.
