Grand jury indicts 4 people in connection with robbery of Northeast Ohio Amish family

GEAUGA COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – A Geauga County Grand Jury indicted four men in connection with assaulting an Amish family at their Middlefield Township home and place of business in October.

Ricky Lee Martin, 43, of Canton, was indicted on:

  • One count of complicity to commit aggravated burglary
  • One count of complicity to commit aggravated robbery
  • Three counts of complicity to commit kidnapping
  • One count of having weapons under disability

The Geauga County Sheriff’s Office believed that Martin would scout Amish-owned businesses, residences and properties while working as an Amish taxi driver to assess the value as targets for burglaries and thefts.

According to a release, Martin was using a 2011 Chevy Suburban, silver in color, with Ohio Registration JTD4357.
