Cleveland mayor gives update on public safety efforts

CLEVELAND (WJW) — A recent violent crime crackdown in Cleveland led to hundreds of arrests and firearm seizures, city officials said Monday.

Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb and Police Chief Dorothy Todd spoke Monday morning on public safety efforts across the city — part of Mayor Bibb’s Raising Investment in Safety for Everyone initiative — and the results of the recent operation conducted by city, state and federal authorities.

Man, woman killed in ‘targeted shooting’ on Cleveland highway identified

During the operation, from Oct. 15 to Dec. 15, authorities made more than 300 felony arrests and 250 warrant arrests; seized 300 illegal firearms and 65 pounds of narcotics — including fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine; and recovered 130 stolen vehicles, Todd said Monday.

Adult parole officers also made more than 1,000 check-ins on paroled offenders…
