This Clevelander felt great pride Dec. 19 as our own Jake Paul headlined the boxing bout of the year. It was a timely reminder that our people can command global audiences, build and revive a great sport, and demonstrate ambition that should make our city proud.
But, as I sat in Miami’s Kaseya Center, there was also a tinge of sadness. Not because the fight was in sunny Miami, but because its location felt emblematic of the drift of things away from Cleveland. Paul, like many of our most talented and ambitious young people, has been pushed out of town, living in Puerto Rico for its more reasonable tax rate, and fighting in Miami with its superior venues and opportunities…
