Stolen car rolls over cliff after suspect ditches vehicle in Lorain: Police

LORAIN, Ohio (WJW) — A vehicle rolled over a cliff above Lake Erie after a 46-year-old man allegedly stole it from a garage and ditched it in a parking lot.

Lorain Police told FOX 8 News that just after 7 a.m. Wednesday, officers got a call from a homeowner who said their car had been stolen as it was warming up in the garage.

According to police, the suspect, 46-year-old William Griffin, trespassed in the garage, stole the vehicle, then drove to a parking lot in the area of 1203 East Erie Avenew right by Lake Erie. That’s where police said he jumped out of the car but left the vehicle in drive. It hit a dumpster then rolled over the cliff, police said, but did not land in the lake.

Nobody was hurt. The car sustained heavy damage from the fall…
