Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court gets new leader, unveils renovated jury room

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Michael Shaughnessy has taken over as the administrative and presiding judge of Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, succeeding Brendan Sheehan after six years in the role.

Shaughnessy, who joined the Common Pleas bench in 2017, was elected to the two-year term by his colleagues. The term began on Jan. 1.

He will oversee court operations and represent all divisions – general, juvenile, domestic relations and probate – on policy matters. Sheehan did not seek reelection to the role…
