Two ways Congress can ensure more ICE accountability following killing of a U.S. citizen

As a resident of Wickliffe and a retired professional focused on accountability, I am troubled by the federal immigration tactics that recently led to the fatal shooting of a U.S. citizen in Minnesota by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent. This tragedy exposes the fundamental failure of responsible governance when law enforcement remains intentionally anonymous.

When ICE agents wear masks and operate from unmarked vehicles in our neighborhoods, it deliberately shatters the public trust essential for law enforcement success. Anonymous policing encourages impunity and destroys the system’s integrity.
