Brooklyn city official fired after social media comment about Minnesota ICE shooting

BROOKLYN, Ohio — A Northeast Ohio city official has been terminated after posting a social media comment suggesting Immigration and Customs Enforcement should have “taken out” the wife of Renee Good, who was fatally shot last week by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Records from the city of Brooklyn show former Clerk of Council Dana Schroeder posted the remark under a Cleveland.com article about Good’s death. In the comment, Schroeder wrote, “Shoulda took out the wife too,” in reference to Good’s killing by a federal immigration officer.

The city placed Schroeder on paid leave Jan. 10, the same day the comment was posted. Two days later, Mayor Roy Van Kirk terminated her employment…
