Cleveland man indicted after dog’s body temp passed 109 in fatal heatstroke

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cleveland man could face prison after his dog — left outside on a balcony for at least six hours in September — died of heatstroke, according to Cuyahoga County prosecutors.

Kenneth Childs, 37, was indicted Thursday by a Cuyahoga County grand jury on one count of fifth-degree felony cruelty to companion animals, along with misdemeanor offenses. If convicted, he faces up to a year in prison.
