Ohio nurse faces manslaughter charge after elderly woman freezes to death outside

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKRC) – The family of an 84-year-old nursing home resident who froze to death outside a Cleveland facility has filed a lawsuit, as a nurse faces criminal charges in the case, court records show, Law&Crime reported.

Alvera Meuti died of hypothermia after leaving the Avenue at Warrensville Care and Rehabilitation Center on the night of Dec. 23, 2024, according to the complaint filed in Cuyahoga County that Law&Crime reported. She was found dead on a patio outside the facility the following morning.

Nurse Amber Henderson is charged with involuntary manslaughter. Prosecutors allege she failed to report Meuti missing for hours and assumed the resident had left with family. The lawsuit also alleges an unsecured exit door allowed Meuti to leave unnoticed…
