Cleveland musician finds relief from painful hand condition through little-known radiation treatment

CLEVELAND — For Cy Sulak, music has been a lifelong passion. The 70-year-old guitarist has been playing since age 17, and today, he still performs gigs nearly every week across Northeast Ohio with his band.

But last year, Sulak faced an unexpected challenge that threatened to silence his music: a painful lump on his hand that made it difficult to play guitar or even perform everyday tasks like holding a cup of coffee or gardening.

“I thought it was just a callus from the different grips on my motorcycle,” Sulak said, referring to a motorcycle he had recently purchased. “But about a month later, it grew to about twice the size, easily twice the size. And I said, ‘That’s not a callus.'”…
