CLEVELAND, Ohio — When the James Beard Award nominations were announced Wednesday morning, Jan. 21, Sarah Cimino was busily refreshing her computer screen. She wanted to be among the first to know if her husband was nominated again for a James Beard Award. Her persistence paid off when Vinnie’s name popped up.
Quickly, she relayed the information to Vinnie. For the third year in a row, the celebrated chef told Cleveland.com that he was “finishing brushing my teeth” when he found out.
Cimino is nominated in the Best Chef: Great Lakes category. This year, he’s the only Cleveland chef to be nominated as a semi-finalist in the category.
