Masked Gunmen Arrested After Armed Robbery Outside Cleveland Heights Recreation Center

Cleveland Heights, Ohio – Two men are in police custody after a reported armed robbery outside the Cleveland Heights Community/Recreation Center on the evening of January 20, an incident that involved masked suspects, firearms, and a brief vehicle pursuit, according to police reports.

The robbery occurred shortly before 6:45 p.m. and left a 34-year-old man shaken after he was allegedly robbed at gunpoint of cash and cell phones outside a public recreation facility on Monticello Boulevard.

Police say the victim was outside the Cleveland Heights Community/Recreation Center, 1 Monticello Blvd., when the incident unfolded. He told officers he had stepped outside to look for a young man he believed was helping his son register for recreational basketball.

While near the entrance, the victim noticed a silver Volkswagen parked in front of the building. When he approached the vehicle and asked the driver to park elsewhere, the situation escalated quickly.
