I-Team: Records reveal story behind Cleveland salt shortage

CLEVELAND (WJW) — The FOX 8 I-Team did some digging to find out why there’s a shortage of road salt in Cleveland, and city records explain a lot.

We reviewed records of salt orders and deliveries. Those records reveal the city has not received large amounts of salt that had been ordered multiple times.

On Monday, we also saw the Cleveland City Council now asking hard questions. We requested information about what the city has ordered from Cargill Salt and what has been received.

The records show, as of last Tuesday, one order called for 11,500 tons of salt, but only 680 tons were delivered…
