VIDEO: Local wrestling coach faces charges after altercation with referee turns violent

NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio (WJW) – A coach faces charges after an altercation involving a referee turned violent during a local youth sporting event.

The aggressive attack happened Sunday at North Olmsted High School. The school was not involved, but it was providing a venue for a youth wrestling tournament from across the area.

Police said it happened during a match between Brecksville and Brookside. The video, as since in the player above, appears to show Brecksville’s youth coach, William Dies, punching a referee as he turned his back.

The referee told FOX 8 off-camera he believes Dies was upset over points in the match he felt should have been awarded. The referee said he advised him to take up up with the head referee and was then assaulted…
