Lifetime ban for coach who attacked referee at North Olmsted tournament

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Buckeye Wrestling Association has issued a lifetime ban to a coach who attacked a referee during a youth wrestling tournament Sunday at North Olmsted High School.

William Dies, 38, who is also a parent, was cited for disorderly conduct by the North Olmsted Police Department following the altercation around 3:50 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium. The new ban prohibits Dies from attending any future association events, including as a spectator.

Surveillance video captured the incident, showing a brief exchange between Dies and referee Gavin Beasley before Dies bent down and lunged toward the official. The two men brawled for less than a minute before onlookers separated them…
