Strongsville Schools reviewing safety & security measures after 2 pupils are caught with 9mm handgun

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio — The Strongsville City Schools will review and may revise its backpack policy due to a Jan. 9 incident in which two pupils were caught with a 9mm handgun on Strongsville High School property.

That’s even though the weapon was found in a car, not in a backpack.

Police also might assign participants in its Volunteers in Policing program — in which trained, uniformed citizens act as eyes and ears for police at certain locations and during community events — to monitor school hallways…
