CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — Several hundred Cleveland Heights High School students walked out of class Thursday afternoon to protest federal immigration enforcement.
Braving windchills in the teens, students gathered outside the school for a 45‑minute rally marked by chants, handmade signs, and a handful of personal speeches. The demonstration remained peaceful, aside from a few snowballs tossed among the crowd.
The walkout was organized by sophomore Emmanuel Gutierrez, who addressed the students from a small platform near the school’s main entrance. He told the crowd that fear has become an unwelcome part of life for many immigrant families — including those represented within the diverse CHHS community…
