‘You’re worth saving:’ Judge spares fentanyl dealer from life sentence

CLEVELAND, Ohio — When police busted Chantez Moore’s drug operation, the $9.5 million in fentanyl they found was one of the largest stashes in county history.

But despite his extensive criminal history and his alleged role as the kingpin, U.S. Judge Donald Nugent felt Moore should have the opportunity – one day in the distant future – to rejoin public life.

“I think you’re worth saving,” Nugent said, noting the packed courtroom full of supporters and the dozen-plus letters of commendation submitted to the court for Moore’s sentencing…
