Push to rename street in honor of murdered officer

CLEVELAND (WJW) – The FOX 8 I-Team has learned of a new push to honor a fallen Cleveland police officer.

State Senator Tom Patton wants people to remember Officer Jamieson Ritter every day and to never forget the ultimate sacrifice he made.

Patton will be introducing a bill in about two weeks to rename a section of Chester Avenue for Jamieson Ritter. Ritter worked out of the Third District headquarters on Chester until he was killed in the line of duty on July 4, 2024.

“A small comfort for the family,” Patton told the I-Team. “This will help keep Jamieson’s memory alive. As long as that sign will be up on Chester, somebody’s going to look up and say hey, who was Jamieson Ritter? His name’s going to be mentioned for a good long time.”…
